Gin Making in Bude
Think of Cornwall’s reputation for locally produced food and drink and there’s a good chance it’s pasties, ice cream, cream teas and even our award-winning Cornish beers that first spring to mind. But in the future, it could be gin!
Right in the heart of Bude, just a stone’s throw from Burn, you can blend your own botanicals and make your very own gin at An Mor. Read on to find out more about the fantastic gin making and tasting experiences on offer.
Gin Tasting
Held on Saturdays, these hour long tasting sessions take you on a journey through the history of gin and how it is made. You’ll discover how it was reportedly used as a medicine by the Dutch in the early 17th century and why it eventually came to be known as ‘Dutch courage’ by British soldiers.
After exploring the different botanicals used to create a variety of flavours, you’ll sample 12 different gins from the six flavour categories: juniper, citrus, spiced, herbaceous, floral and fruit.
Gin Parties
Perfect for hen parties, group get togethers, or just because, An Mor’s Gin Parties take you and up to seven friends on a two hour journey through all things gin.
As well as expanding your knowledge about your favourite tipple, you’ll choose from a whole host of different botanicals, from lime leaves to liquorice, and design your very own gin to take home. You’ll then personalise your 100ml bottle by corking and labelling and round things off with your choice of gin and mixer.
Gin Master Class
Whether you’re a gin aficionado, or simply want to find out which mixers bring out the best in the botanicals, the four hour Gin Master Class covers everything you need to know.
After learning the basics and designing your own bespoke flavour combination, you’ll fire up a copper still and produce your very own 500ml bottle to take home. The class also includes a celebratory gin to finish!
