How to spend your October half term in Cornwall
It might feel like a long way off, but now that the kids are heading back to school, the October half term is just around the corner. Luckily for you, we’re always a few steps ahead and we’ve planned out a week’s worth of trips and activities in Cornwall to keep everyone entertained.

Day 1: Pay a visit to The Eden Project
Where better to start the week than at one of Cornwall’s most famous attractions? This collection of massive domed greenhouses is home to gorgeous gardens, exciting exhibitions, and the world’s largest rainforest in captivity. And the best part? It’s just an hour from both of our Cornwall resorts.
Adult tickets start from £32.50, kids aged 5-16 are £10 year-round, and under 5s go free.

Day 2: Explore The National Maritime Museum
Perched in a picturesque spot in Falmouth’s Port Pendennis, this sprawling museum is spread across five floors. Inside, you’ll discover galleries dedicated to all things nautical, hands-on workshops, and limited-time exhibits. Be sure to stop by the Monsters of the Deep show and learn more about legends, folklore, and historic sailors’ tales of sea monsters.
Adult tickets start from £14.95, kids aged 5-17 are £7.50, and under 5s go free.

Day 3: Head to the beach
No trip to Cornwall would be complete without a day or two at the beach, and we really are blessed with some of the best. Clowance’s closest sandy spots are Godrevy and Gwithian, while Burn is just a short walk from Summerleaze and Widemouth. If you’re looking for somewhere a little more off the beaten track, have a chat with a member of our team and they’ll point you in the right direction.

Day 4: Walk the South West Coast Path
Stretching all the way from Minehead in Somerset to Devon’s Poole Harbour, this 630-mile path spans across some of our favourite areas of Cornwall’s rugged coastline. Wherever you join this route, you’re sure to find postcard-perfect fishing villages, dramatic cliffs, and a wealth of historic sites just waiting to be explored.

Day 5: Enjoy a fun-filled day at Flambards
For the thrill-seekers in your family, there’s nowhere better than Flambards. Just a short drive from Clowance, the park is home to adrenaline-fuelled rides, family favourites, plenty of places to eat and drink. Or, step back in time and take a stroll through the park’s life-sized Victorian village and World War II-era London street for a history lesson with a twist.
Adult tickets start from £19.95, kids up to 15 are £14.95, and infants under 95cm go free.

Day 6: Spend some time souvenir seeking
Your memories don’t have to be the only thing you take home with you. Take a trip into one of the nearby seaside towns and wander through traditional gift shops, boutiques, and even bakeries for a taste of a proper Cornish pasty. If you’re staying at Clowance, St Ives is just a 30-minute drive, and Bude is just a short walk from Burn Coastal Retreat.
