The place to be is Cornwall this August!
During the summer months, the waters around Cornwall are alive with sailing boats. And none more so than during Falmouth Week, from 4th – 13th August. At Clowance, it’s an event we really look forward to every year!
Boats, bands and breathtaking displays
Falmouth Week provides a racing programme to challenge the most competitive sailors yet retains a ‘fun and friendly’ feel which also attracts families and the less experienced to take part – or just watch from the shore. So although Falmouth Week started out as a series of sailing regattas, it’s now a major event in the town’s calendar with a full schedule daytime and evening events to entertain you.
Every year it’s estimated that around 100,000 visitors come into Falmouth to enjoy events including the infamous 80s/90s Night on Events Square and the University of Exeter’s Science in the Square. Some of our personal favourites include Pink Wig Night which raises money for The Breast Care Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Truro as well as the Breast Cancer Campaign nationally. Why not join the parade of over 600 Pink Wig wearing ladies which leaves The Moor at 6.30pm led by the infamous Betty Stogs & Falmouth Marine Band. After parading through town to Event Square you can dance the night away!
The Moor also plays host to spectacular markets, showcasing the best artisan makers and producers in the South West. In the Marquee on The Moor you can visit exciting stalls and sit and watch live acoustic music from some of the best acts in the South West. There’s plenty to keep the children entertained or just relax in a deckchair, enjoy a drink and soak up the sunshine.
A visit to Falmouth Week wouldn’t be complete without watching the renowned Red Arrows Display over the bay on Wednesday evening at 6.15pm. Or the world class fireworks display on Friday. But arrive early to grab one of many great vantage points to enjoy the fantastic shows over the water.
