An interview with locals: our favourite places to visit near Burn
We’ve asked our Resort Manager, Debbie, and our Reception Manager, Gemma, to share a few of their favourite places near Burn. From sandy beaches to beautiful villages, there is plenty to discover, and you can hear about all the best places in the area from our lovely local team.
Q: What is the one thing that all guests must do when they visit the resort?
A: Visit the nearby beaches! They’re stunning and whatever the season you can still enjoy the experience. If you’re visiting for the first time or even if you have been time and time again, a surfing experience should definitely be top of your to-do list. It’s great for all the family and no two surfs are ever the same.
Q: Where are the best places to eat?
A: We’re only a stone’s throw from Bude, which was awarded the UK’s best seaside town by the British Travel Awards 2018 – the third time it’s won the award in the past four years. There are lots of places to eat out. Life’s a Beach consistently cooks up delicious fresh fish and seafood dishes. Situated right on the edge of Summerleaze beach, the views are beautiful too. Here you can watch the surfers while you dine.
Q: What should guests do on their first visit?
A: Take the 15-minute walk into Bude from the resort and wander around this beautiful seaside town. Once in the town, you can follow the canal walk or stroll to Widemouth Bay. Drop into one of the great restaurants and pubs with their delicious local menus.
Q: Where would you recommend for a day out?
A: The South West Coast Path is right on our doorstep. A favourite stretch of mine is from Northcott Mouth across the cliffs to Sandymouth and Duckpool Beaches. We also have plenty of beautiful villages within easy reach, I’d suggest visiting Tintagel, Boscastle, Clovelly, Port Isaac and Padstow.
Q: Devon or Cornwall?
A: Both! Being right on the Devon/Cornwall border you have the option of either. But the North Devon beaches of Croyde Bay and Saunton Sands are beautiful for a leisurely stroll across their long sandy stretches.
