See a new side to the seaside town of Bude
From rugged coastlines to wide open countryside, the seaside town of Bude and the surrounding area boast some of the most beautiful scenery in North Cornwall.
Whether you want to make the most of your time in the town, or simply want to see it from a different perspective, here’s some of our favourite ways to explore Bude.
Embark on a Segway tour
Suitable for all ages and abilities, a Segway tour is the perfect way to explore the nearby woodland, wide open countryside, and coastal paths. Segway Bude is nestled in a 500 acre estate just south of the seaside town and offers a range of Segway experiences including their Scenic Tour which takes you along smooth, rolling paths with coastal views, and their Ultimate Thrill route, an off-road experience featuring steep hills and rough terrain.
Canoe along the canal
The historic Bude Canal was originally used for transporting lime-rich sand to local farms, but these days, it’s the perfect place to spend a peaceful afternoon spotting local wildlife. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the canal path, however, the best way to explore the area is by taking to the water. The Bude Canoe Experience offer 2, 3 and 4 hour sessions which provide the perfect opportunity to hone your canoe skills while soaking up the scenery.
Cycle through the countryside
One of the best ways to take in the many sights and sounds of the local coastline and countryside is by bicycle. With countless cycle routes, each varying in length and difficulty, you can spend a whole day exploring quiet lanes, villages, and nature reserves, or simply plan a short route that includes a stop at a local pub. Bude Bikes have a range of bikes, trailers and child seats for hire and you can also download a selection of recommended routes from their website.
Enjoy a coastal walk
The dramatic North Cornwall coastline is best enjoyed with a bracing clifftop walk. If you’re looking to blow away the cobwebs, why not venture to the nearby village of Crackington Haven? The route leads you along the sandy beach to Cambeak headland and comes back through the sheltered woodlands of the Ludon Valley. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you could take the route from Tintagel to Boscastle harbour and head along the winding coastal path before warming up in one of Boscastle’s many pubs with a local ale by the fireside.
