The top 6 gardens in Cornwall
From rugged coastlines to stunning countryside, one of the best things about Cornwall has to be its remarkable scenery. And while Cornwall’s unique landscape is one of the many reasons that countless people flock to the county every year, there are also acres of colourful, fragrant gardens to explore.
Here’s 6 of the best gardens to visit in Cornwall.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan
These historic gardens belonged to the Tremayne family for more than 400 years. However following WWI, when the estate’s workforce went off to fight in the trenches, the gardens eventually became lost under a tangle of brambles and weeds. It was only as recently as 25 years ago that the gardens were discovered in the estate’s ruins and a huge restoration project began.
Today, The Lost Gardens of Heligan is one of the most loved gardens in the UK. Visitors can step back in time and explore exotic jungles, ancient woodland and romantic Victorian gardens, and walk across one of the largest Burmese rope bridges in Britain!
Bonython Estate Gardens
Bonython is a Cornish estate featuring an 18th century manor house, a majestic walled garden, lakes, and a woodland walk. Situated on Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula, the gardens are a tropical paradise surrounded by sea views and farmland, and combine the traditional with the exotic to create an explosion of fragrance and colour.
