Top things to do in St Ives
The beautiful seaside town of St Ives is just a short drive from Clowance, making it the perfect place for a fun-filled day trip. We’ve narrowed down some of our favourite things to do in the town to help you plan the perfect day out.
Take a stroll along Porthminster Beach
This long, sandy stretch is the perfect place to kick off your shoes and enjoy a peaceful stroll. The beach offers fabulous views of the famous Godrevy Lighthouse and during the summer months, you could even be mistaken for thinking you’re soaking up the sun on a Mediterranean shoreline.
Visit Tate St Ives
Home to a range of ever-changing exhibitions, the Tate St Ives features everything from beautiful landscape paintings to quirky art installations. The gallery regularly hosts plenty of activities and workshops, making it ideal for families, and is an inspiring place to visit whatever the weather.
Take to the waves
South Cornwall is home to some of the best surfing beaches in the UK, so there’s no better place to take to the waves. If you’re keen to hone your skills, sign up for a lesson at the St Ives Surf School. Or, if you’re feeling less energetic, hire a bodyboard or paddle board and simply bob around in the waves.
Grab a Cornish pasty from St Ives Bakery
If there’s one food that the county is famous for, it has to be the pasty. St Ives Bakery has a fantastic selection to choose from including traditional pasties available in shortcrust and flaky pastry, as well as a selection of other tasty fillings including steak and stilton, lamb and mint, and wholemeal vegetarian.
Get an ice cream at the Moomaid of Zennor
No visit to Cornwall would be complete without an ice cream on the seafront. The Moomaid of Zennor serves some of the best ice cream in Cornwall, and in their St Ives ice cream parlours, you’ll find a host range of exciting flavours to sample, from salted almond and espresso martini to white chocolate and passion.
Embark on a sea safari
This area of Cornwall is brimming with wildlife, and one of the best places to see seals, dolphins, and local birds is on a sea safari. Boat trips are available throughout the summer months and are great on sunny days. One of our favourite operators is St Ives Boats, which offers daily trips to Seal Island and Godrevy Lighthouse as well as private charters.
