Welcome to Bude, officially the UK’s best coastal resort!
Everyone at Burn is thrilled that for the second year running Bude has won Best UK Coastal Resort at the recent British Travel Awards.
Being so close to Bude is just one of the reasons why so many families love Burn. The town’s famous for its pastel painted beach huts, crazy golf and wide sandy beaches but it wasn’t always like that. Once a busy commercial port, Bude only blossomed as a holiday destination in the 19th century when the railway arrived and tourists first tentatively dipped their toes in the Atlantic. Today the town combines all the advantages of a modern, thriving resort with the genteel atmosphere of a former, nostalgic getaway. The town’s beaches (and there are two massive sandy ones!) are perfect for long summer days building sandcastles or, if you’re feeling energetic, getting in some surf lessons. The town centre has a good mix of independent shops so you won’t go short of souvenirs or places for the children to spend their pocket money, a place for arts and exhibitions, plus there are great walks along the highest sea cliffs in Cornwall.
Our top 6 reasons to visit Bude
