What’s on in the Lake District this September
The summer holidays may nearly be over but there is so much happening in the Lake District in September and there’s literally no bigger event in England than the first activity we want to share with you!
The Lake District Challenge
The Royal Society for Blind Children is a charity dedicated to supporting blind children or who have visual impairment by providing them with best possible services to learn new skills, have fun, create lasting memories and to reach their full potential. They have fundraisers competing in several sporting events and this weekend they will be at the the Lake District Challenge. A friendly group are getting together to hike up England’s highest and most spectacular peak, Scafell Pike. Why not join them and explore the beauty of the lakes whilst raising money for this really good cause?
Where: Scafell Pike
When: 29 September – 1 October 2017
Entrance: Registration fee applies.
Let’s get physical
If you and your friends love a physical challenge then look no further than Born Survivor at the amazing Lowther Castle. It’s not your average mud run – this is the ultimate 10K military obstacle course challenge, designed by an ex-Royal Marine Commando to test you to the limit. It’s not a race; everyone can tackle all 30 obstacles at their own pace, whatever their ability. Once you’ve completed the course you can celebrate at a special event with a licensed bar and food. It’s a great day out for teams, and it’s also spectator friendly. So bring your friends and family to watch!
Where: Lowther Castle, near Penrith (CA10 2HH)
When: 9th September
Entry: £69pp. (Over 18s only. Team discounts available.)
Carnival comes to Kendal!
Forget Rio and Notting Hill… Self-catering holidays in the Lake District are about to come alive to the sights and sounds of the Kendal Torchlight Carnival. As many as 130 floats, bands, dance troupes and entertainers have traditionally joined the procession as it makes its way through the town. And it’s always a surprise to see just who (and what!) turns up… One thing we do know is that this year’s theme is Fairytales and all the money raised goes to local charities. So come and join in the fun, meet lots of lovely, local people and help raise money for good causes. What’s not to like?!
Where: Parade starts from K Village at 7.30pm finishes back at Kendal Leisure Centre.
When: Friday 15th September & Saturday 16th September
