The best Boxing Day walks near Clowance
It’s safe to say that the majority of us will be overindulging over the festive period. And quite rightly so!
But if you fancy getting out and about and exploring Cornwall during your stay, or want to feel a little less guilty about treating yourself to another mince pie or two, take a look at our pick of the best Boxing Day walks near Clowance.
Tehidy Woods to Deadman’s Cove
With sheltered woodland trails and dramatic clifftop paths, this fantastic circular walk offers the best of both worlds. The route can be reached in just 20 minutes by car and is a total of 4.3 miles, perfect for those looking to make the most of a dry, sunny afternoon. But if a bracing coastal walk sounds a little too strenuous, you could always just park up and spend an hour meandering through the trees at Tehidy Country Park.
Penrose walk
Just a 15-minute drive from Clowance, this short walk takes you through Porthleven, along the Atlantic coastline, and past The Loe (the largest freshwater lake in Cornwall). Portheleven’s historic harbour and the nearby Great Trigg rocks are the ideal places to stop for photographs with the family, while the bracing walk along Porthleven Sands is guaranteed to blow away a few cobwebs.
Camborne Town Trail
If heading off the beaten track isn’t quite your thing, why not take a stroll around the streets of the nearby Camborne town? The tour takes you past some of the town’s historic highlights including the statue of engineer and inventor, Richard Trevithick, Wesley Chapel, The Old Market House, and Commercial Square. Afterwards, you’ll be able to warm up with a quick pint in a local pub before heading back to your lodge to carry on the festivities.
Clowance woods
If you’d rather not venture too far, why not take a stroll around our lake and through the beautiful Clowance Woods? These ancient woodlands are nestled in the very heart of our estate and feature plenty of flat, well-trodden trails that are perfect for pushchairs and little ones. And, perhaps best of all, the woods are just a short walk from your front door, so you can be back in your cosy lodge indulging in more festive treats in no time!
