October half term in Cornwall
If you’re feeling stumped for ideas to entertain the kids this October half term, then fear not, as there are plenty of Halloween happenings taking place across Cornwall from 20th October right through to 4th November.
Here’s our pick of the most spooktacular events taking place across the county.
Newquay Zoo
Newquay Zoo has plenty of things in store for the little ones this half term. The kids can embark on a Nocturnal Nature trail, don their scariest costumes to be in with a chance of winning a fearsome prize, and tuck into some special Halloween treats in the cafe.
On 30th October, they will also be hosting a Fright Night in partnership with Newquay Tretherras school. This murder mystery guided theatre tour will take you into the depths of the zoo to meet some of the suspicious characters linked to the victim and help you piece together the clues to discover who committed the crime.
The Eden Project
There will be a whole fortnight of magical events taking place at The Eden Project this October. Halloweden activities include the magical tales and mythical beasts lectures, the Dangerous Beasts Hunt for the Antidote, a myths and legends trail, and fun-filled ice skating sessions.
You and your clan can also enjoy an evening of ghoulish fun at the Little Monsters’ Ball Halloween disco. Taking place on 27th October, the night will include a Rave-A-Roo – a clubbing mash-up of festival fun for the whole family – as well as fire dancing, acrobatics, and face painting.
Godolphin
This October half term, those visiting Godolphin can enjoy a spooky story or two from professional storyteller Mark Harandon, who will be telling some little known tales of the ghosts that have haunted the historic estate for centuries. There will also be a shrunken apple head treasure trail, arts and crafts sessions, and the opportunity to press your very own apples in the Cider House.
National Maritime Museum
Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum will be running a series of stunning aerial dance performances throughout the half term. Titled ‘Ghostships!’, the shows take place in the Museum’s Main Hall and are guaranteed to be truly mesmerising.
Little ones will also have the chance to make their own glass ghost ship lantern and take part in an exciting treasure hunt trail through the smugglers cave and along the island beach to Treasure Island fort.
Pendennis Castle
Where better to get stuck into a whole host of Halloween activities than Pendennis Castle? As well as eerie evening tours which will take you and the family on a journey deep into the castle’s creepy past, little ones can make their very own potions with the potion master and discover some simple, but amazing, magic tricks to impress their friends with.
Clowance and Burn
If you fancy staying closer to home, then there are plenty of activities for you and the family to take part in without even leaving the resort. We’ll be hosting a Halloween disco at Burn as well as arts and crafts, games, and circus skills sessions, and you can enjoy live music from Bache and James Dixon in the bar area in the evenings.
At Clowance, the kids can get stuck into all sorts of activities from movie nights to woodland walks with our park ranger. There will also be an opportunity for little ones to dress to impress at our spooky Halloween party.
With some last minute availability at both of our Cornwall resorts, you and the family could enjoy an action-packed half term break from just £685! Take a look at our accommodation at Clowance and Burn to start planning your perfect break.
