5 reasons to visit Go Ape Whinlatter
One of the best things about visiting The Lakes is that there are countless outdoor adventure activities right on your doorstep. The Go Ape activity centre at Whinlatter Forest is just a 25-minute drive from Whitbarrow, and is one of our favourite places for a family day out.
Here are five reasons why Go Ape Whinlatter is a must-visit during your time in the Lake District.
It’s great fun for all ages
The minimum age limit for the Go Ape Treetop Challenge is 10 years old, which means the whole family can take part. It’s not only heaps of fun, but a great confidence builder. In fact, you’ll probably find that the younger ones are more fearless than the adults when it comes to the high ropes course!
It’s the perfect all-weather activity
The great news is that the course is open in all weathers, and the surrounding trees even offer some protection in heavy rainfall. The only exceptions are during icy weather and thunderstorms, but we can all agree that the best place to be during these times is tucked up indoors!
It’s surrounded by some magnificent scenery
The activity centre is nestled in the heart of Whinlatter forest and, at over 1,000 feet above sea level, is actually the highest Go Ape location. This means you’re surrounded by some truly magnificent scenery and, believe us, nothing beats soaking up views of the surrounding fells from the treetops.
There are segways too!
If the Treetop Challenge doesn’t sound like your thing, or you simply want to make a day of your trip to Whinlatter, then why not try the Segway tour? The scenic off-road safari takes you through the forest and offers some amazing views of Skiddaw and Helvellyn.
It’s great value
Compared to some outdoor activities, Go Ape is also great value. You can tackle the Treetop Challenge, which takes around 2 – 3 hours, for just £20 per person. Plus, when you book online in advance, you can save up to 20% on your booking! Head over to their website to find out more.
